I have a Christmas cactus that will not flower.?

I have had it for 3 years and it won't bud or bloom. How can I get it to flower? Otherwise it is healthy and growing.

Yes, I know it is probaly not the season for it to bloom now, but I'd like the info for later when the blooming season hits.

I read somewhere that you can force this plant to flower by covering it with plastic bag and keeping it in dark closet. I checked the internet and there is a website that has the same kind of advice - more technical - http://www.emmitsburg.net/gardens/articl...

Good luck.
Reply:Maybe you need to change the location. I keep mine in a very sunny window and they bloom many times every year - even in the summer months. I have two that are blooming right now.
Reply:i think they only flower every 5 years i think so hang on in there
