My Christmas cactus did not bloom what did i do wrong?
Flowering Cactus need neglect. There are three things that contribute to them blooming.

You need to give them lower night time temperatures. The best way is to keep them outside until the temps get into the 50F's. Keep them in a filtered sun or shady spot. They can be burned in full, outside sunlight.

When they do come in, they need 'short days'. This is mostly accomplished by being outside until the fall. Put them in a bright window. Try not to run a lamp on them at night.

The last thing, and it's important, they need to transition from dry to wet season. Starting in August, I stop watering my Cactus, when I bring it in, it looks like heck. I start watering it in October or so. If you keep them moist, all the time, there is no 'season change' that signals blooming season. Although it's a tropical cactus, it is still a cactus.

Keep the fertilizing to a minimum, only in the spring and summer.

I hope that this helps

Good luck
Reply:it needs cool nights like around 40 degrees
Reply:It may have gotten light after natural dark, or not gotten cool enough to set buds. I keep my Thanksgiving, and Christmas cactuses on the deck, leave them out until sometime in late October, bringing them in only when there is a frost warning, and they have set buds by then, always blooming beautifully. They spend their wintertimes in a room that is only used in the daytime, and I see yesterday that one of them has set some more buds, after having just bloomed at Thanksgiving.

I just water them sparingly thru the winter, and resume regular watering and fertilizing when I set them out on the deck again in the spring.
Reply:Temperature and light, or lack of it rather, is what your Christmas Cacti needs to bloom. This season make sure you keep it outside during the Spring, Summer, and well into Mid Autumn when the temps drop to about 50degrees. Once the temps drop then bring it inside and put it in a location that gets very little light. Some light is fine, but you want it to get mostly dark. Basically what you are doing it tricking it into thinking it is the dead of winter.

Once it begins to bloom to you can move it to a location it can be enjoyed.
Reply:an aquantaince of mine has one and it bloomed this year and is still blooming she keeps it in direct sunlight in her office year round and it looks amazing so i do not think it had got enough sunlight thats what happend just keep it happy and living and maybe next year it will bloom.
