Can a Christmas Cactus plant be........?

put out on a glassed in porch for the summer? I live in Northern Illinois and was wondering if the hot weather would be too much for it or not. Thanks.

Can a Christmas Cactus plant be........?
i have several Xmas cactus inside my house all located in the back window of my house i live in Virginia beach the problem with putting plants outside during summer months is that when you bring them in they tend to go through a shock due to temperature change out side it is very humid and hot therefore when plants are brought inside they have to re adjust to the indoor enviorment and face the chance of losing leaves and going into shock believe it or not it is may and mine are flowering Xmas cactus like to be in the same location with proper care they will produce flowers at least 4 times a year also it is very true about when they are budded not to move them cause their buds will fall i would suggest you hang them in a window which receives alot of sun and water good march through november do not move for xmas ,you will have the most beautiful blooms remember cactus are hot ,dry, sun loving plants and as long as you do not over water in the colder months your cactus should last a very long time
Reply:Depends ..

If your porch is completely closed in and does not get any ventilation then you should not try to grow anything there.

Christmas cactus enjoy being outside during the summer months. Put the pot under a tree where it will get dappled sun. Don't forget to water it.

Reply:Your cactus will do well outside if you don't let the roots dry out. It's the cold that it won't tolerate.
